Areas of Interest

La Quinta is conveniently situated in the smartest area of the Costa del Sol, in Southern Spain. The chic resorts of Marbella and Puerta Bañus are just 10 minutes drive and the airport at Malaga is 45 minutes.

 

Within one hour’s drive:-

Malaga - a large city and port with many famous attractions, including the famous Picasso Museum and Roman archeological site.

Ronda - the mountain town which straddles a vast gorge and which contains a famous bullring and bullfighting museum.

Gibraltar - a British free port with many historical associations and extensive caves within the Rock.

The white mountain villages of Casares, Istan, Ojen, etc.

Many other coastal resorts such as Estepona, Fuengirola, Benalmadena.

Within two hour’s drive:-

Granada - historic capital of Andalucia. It has another international airport and is home to the Moorish Castle of The Alhambra. Also the gateway to the ski area of Sierra Nevada.

Cordoba - city which contains the palaces of the Spanish Christian kings as well as the famous Mezquita, a huge ornate Mosque with a Catholic cathedral within and a Jewish quarter and museum.

Seville - the artistic, cultural, and financial capital of southern Spain, famous for its Gothic and Moorish architecture and, reputedly, the inspiration for the setting of the opera “Carmen”.

 

Jerez - not only the home of the fortified wine of Sherry, but home to the world-famous Spanish Riding School

 

You should also be aware that it is very easy to reach many of these cities by using the new AVE train from Malaga. Cordoba is reach in under one hour on the train which travels at around 170 mph!
